I received my Kickstarter reward today for Arcadia Quest, the chibi miniatures board game from Cool Mini or Not and Spaghetti Western Games. So here is my unboxing of my shipment!
A quick game description from the Arcadia Quest website:
Arcadia Quest is an exciting new adventure board game for 2 to 4 players created by a quartet of designers, including Mr. Eric Lang. Each player controls a Guild of 3 Heroes, competing to be the liberators of the city of Arcadia and, more importantly, to become the richest and most powerful Guild in the land!
Arcadia Quest is a game that combines PvE and PvP gameplay, as players battle not only the monsters that populate the board, but also the heroes controlled by other players. The monsters react to the players' actions, so there is no need for one player to be stuck with the role of "game master", everybody gets to play as heroes.
The game is played through the multiple scenarios that make up a campaign. Players can choose the path their campaign takes, ensuring that no two playthroughs are ever the same. As their heroes defeat enemies and accomplish quests, they get new weapons, loot and abilities that will make them gradually more powerful and resourceful!
Inside the box |
First up, the special add on buys. First one is Zahra. Looks familiar? Looks like Grace Jones to me.
Next is Nibbles. A killer rabbit. There will be a theme here, I assure you.
And finally Bob the Enchanter. You can't see his headgear that well, with the rams horns on it. He's related to a well known Enchanter who some call... Tim. (Prince Aaron, who suspiciously looks like a certain King of the Britons, is in the Guildmaster Box) These were three of five that were unlocked that could be purchased. Two of them I didn't get: Pigsy and another that was a medusa. She's an enemy in another add-on quest available to purchase as a hero.
First box on top is the Guildmaster box. This is a special Kickstarter box that contains all the stretch goal unlocks.
Here's a shot of the box bottom with all the characters in it.
Opening the box, we have the The nameless campaign expansion campaign book and box of minis in the upper left of the box. Special guild dice (upper right) and left to right: hero cards, skull tokens, coins, guild tokens, and health tokens.
Here's all the hero minis. Some of these are enemies from the both the main game and the expansion. The rest were all stretch goal unlocks.
Contents of the expansion: enemy cards, quest cards, and the minis.
Here's the main set. It's a deep box and has some heft to it.
Back of the box, showing the contents.
Aaaaaaand I got the dinged one. Not horrible, nothing is torn or broken. Not pristine either.
The rule and campaign books. Lots of colorful artwork. Very nice looking.
Sheets of counters, and the blue thing at the the are the guild panels where you place your character cards and any equipment they have.
Left to Right, top to bottom: quest cards, character cards, dice, campaign sheets, item cards.
Base set heroes and the color coordinated guild bases that snap on the bottom so you can tell who's in which guild at a glance.
Monster minis in a double stacked set. Lots of orcs, goblins, ogres and minotaurs.
Finally, all the tiles.
I plan on getting friends together to give this a whirl in the next week or two. Once we do 'll give a report on it. If you can't wait, the Arcadia Quest website has a review video at the bottom of the main page.
