Unboxing: Space Hulk

In the future, there is only claustrophobia

I picked up my pre-ordered copy of the 2014 re-release of Space Hulk. I have never played it before but I have a lot of friends who have and they all have fond memories of it and say it's a great game and they wished they had never gotten rid of it. So, when GW offered a limited release of it, I jumped on the chance to pre-order it. In addition, the pre-order from GW came with a free art print of the cover art which was nice. Something to hang in the hobby room. Anyway, on to the unboxing!

Here's the view with the lid off. I must say, the lid is a TIGHT fit. Once off, it was a bear to put back on. You have to kind of put in on until it won't go down any more then press on the center to push the air out so it will down a little more, repeat until closed. Also, if you don't plan on assembling everything right away, I recommend taking a picture because otherwise it won't go back together nicely and you'll end up with the hump of bits so you cant close the lid all the way.

Here are the various sprues. The Blood Angels make up only one and a quarter sprues. Definitely outnumbered by the Genestealers.

Here's a close up of one of the Blood Angel Terminators. As you can see the models are push-fit, so they don't require anything but basic model building skills and don't even need glue technically. As you can see there's lots of detail on the model.

And of course, the nice thing is the two factions are modeled in different colors so there isn't any need to paint them if you don't want to. Of course as miniature enthusiasts we want to, right? However, seeing as I have a metric ton of other miniature projects, this one can hold off and be used without worrying about it being painted.

The two books. The Mission book is about 55 pages long with sixteen missions (if I remember correctly). There's also about 10-15 pages of setting background for those unfamiliar with the grim dark future of Warhammer 40,000.

And then there's many sheets of card stock.

 There are two packs of tiles, This second pack was more rooms and corridors. I didn't bother opening it since you got to see it from the pack I opened to show the counters.

Thick!

This picture shows how thick the card stock is. Actually, I probably shouldn't call it card stock. These are thick and heavy duty, so they should stand up to use pretty well. Time will tell, but these things are pretty solid.

The box also comes with a set of dice and some plastic baggies to hold the counters and other small gribblies. (not pictured) When I get a chance I mean to sit down and go over the rules and then try to get some friends over to play.
